PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start and stop a diesel engine only by operating a key-operated switch. SOLUTION: A movable member 37 is mounted to the key-operated switch 30 connected to a drive circuit part 11 of an engine starting device 10. The movable member 37 is so structured as to be operated by gearing it with the key-operated switch 30, and geared with an operation part 23 of an engine stopping device 22 through a gearing mechanism 40. When the key-operated switch 30 is operated to a start position, the gearing mechanism 40 changes over the operation part 23 of the stopping device 22 to a release position by application force of the movable member 37 associated with it. When the key- operated switch 30 is operated to a cut-off position, the gearing mechanism changes over the operation part 23 of the stopping device 22 to the stop position by application force of the movable member 37 associated with it.
