PURPOSE: A back light assembly and a liquid crystal display having the same are provided to secure wide widths of coupling grooves while fixing a light guide plate at a container, thereby reducing the size. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of lamp units(310,320) generate light. A light guide unit(330) includes sides(332,333) receiving the light, a reflecting surface reflecting the incident light, and a light exit surface for letting the incident light and the reflected light exit to guide the light. The light guide unit includes one or more fixing grooves on at least one side. A bottom mold frame(500) includes a bottom surface(550), side walls(510,520,530,540) extended from the bottom surface to form a containing space for the lamp units and the light guide unit, and at least one or more fixing protrusions(570) protruded from the side walls towards the containing space to be combined with the fixing grooves.
