GLUTAMATE DECARBOXYLASE GENE OF ORYZA SATIVA L.

PURPOSE: A glutamate decarboxylase gene of Oryza sativa L. is provided, thereby producing Oryza sativa L. producing a large amount of gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA). CONSTITUTION: A glutamate decarboxylase gene of Oryza sativa L.(OsGAD) has the nucleotide sequence shown in figure 1 and the glutamate decarboxylase of Oryza sativa L. has the amino acid sequence shown in figure 1. A recombinant vector pKKOsGAD containing the glutamate decarboxylase gene of Oryza sativa L. is provided. A transformed Escherichia coli JM109 producing OsGAD is produced by transforming E. coli with the recombinant vector pKKOsGAD.
