PURPOSE: A sensor unit for detecting a water level and a water level detecting sensor are provided to precisely detect the water level with easily installing the sensor unit regardless of a shape of a tank. CONSTITUTION: A sensor unit(200) includes a rod-shaped conductor(230) and a cylindrical protecting pipe(210) for preventing the rod-shaped conductor(230) from being contaminated. A pair of sensor units(200) form a water level detecting sensor(100). A lower end of the cylindrical protecting pipe(210) is opened and an upper end of the cylindrical protecting pipe(210) is closed. Even if the sensor unit(200) is immersed in water, fluid in the cylindrical protecting pipe(210) is not risen above a water level adjusting hole(250), thereby preventing the rod-shaped conductor(230) and the cylindrical protecting pipe(210) are prevented from being contaminated.
