<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective material for ink jet recorded images, which is easy to handle. <P>SOLUTION: The melting viscosity at 80°C under an ordinary temperature solid state of this protective material for ink jet recorded images is set to be 500 cp or lower. Also, the protective material for ink jet recorded images contains at least one of a saturated fatty acid ester derivative or a denatured silicone derivative as the major component, and the melting viscosity at 80°C under the ordinary temperature solid state is set to be 500 cp or lower. In addition, the protective material of which the melting viscosity at 80°C under the ordinary state is set to be 500 cp or lower is uniformly provided on a supporting body by a specified amount.
