<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which stabilizes feeding performance, an image to be transferred and its picture quality by making it possible to automatically detect the size of transfer paper of indefinite form size even when the transfer paper is stored in a transfer paper tray. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device 1 reads, out of nonvolatile memories 11c and 11d, output voltage values corresponding to the positions of respective guide plates provided in the transfer paper tray T and stores the voltage values in a RAM 12b when the power source is turned on, and reads the positions of guide plates corresponding to the output voltage values of variable resistors 11a and 11b out of the nonvolatile memories 11c and 11d to determine the size of transfer paper when an image is formed. When the image forming device 1 defects paper ends in the width direction of the transfer paper, (i.e., the front end of the transfer paper in its conveying direction) with photosensors, the device 1 suitably controls the operations of an image formation and fixation part 13a, a driving motor group 13c, etc., according to the determined size of the transfer paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
