<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the trapping of a rear seat occupant without interrupting a field of rear view of an driver except for a headrest installed extending onto a rear seat. <P>SOLUTION: A pair of supporting columns 7, 7 which are constructed to elongate with the operation of an inflator 11 in accordance with a signal from an impact detecting sensor 10, are erected at the lower part of a rear parcel 4 in mutually spaced relation. An occupant protecting fence 9 is provided extending between both supporting columns 7, 7. With the elongation of the supporting columns 7, 7, the occupant protecting fence 9 is developed on the rear parcel 4 in such a manner as to be spaced a proper distance from a rear window glass 3 in opposition thereto. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
