PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the luminescence of a light emitting element constant and easily detect the life of the light emitting element. SOLUTION: A light source 1 for an analyzer is installed or mounted on the analyzer and emits light to a test object installed on a test object installation unit 10. The light source 1 comprises a light emitting element 2, a light receiving element 3, a guide means (half mirror) 4, a current adjusting means 5 for adjusting an amount of current supplied to the light emitting element 2, and a monitor terminal 9. The current adjusting means 5 comprises a current/voltage converter circuit 6, an error amplifier 7 and a transistor 8. When an amount of light received by the light receiving element 3 decreases, the error amplifier 7 outputs more difference voltage Vs, thereby increasing current Ie supplied to the light emitting element 2. Therefore, the luminescence of the light emitting element 2 is kept constant. The monitor terminal 9 detects (monitors) the current Ie.
