PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy oil detecting method capable of easily and visually determining where oil is present in a soil sample obtained by boring or the like, detecting an ultraviolet absorptive material by use a phosphor, a white powder or white powder containing the phosphor, and an ultraviolet generator so as to be easy and convenient for carrying, and easily finding out contaminated soil without misjudging, even if other substances (shell or the like) emitting fluorescence are present, because the contaminated oil is present in a certain width in the soil. SOLUTION: This optical easy detecting method of oil for detecting the present position of oil content comprises applying a treatment agent on the soil including oil content, generating fluorescence by irradiating the soil with ultraviolet ray, and observing the generating state. The treatment agent includes the phosphor emitting fluorescence by ultraviolet ray, the white powder consisting of a porous inorganic material, and the white powder with the phosphor emitting fluorescence by ultraviolet ray supported thereon.
