PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spool valve, miniaturized, widely applicable, with a simple structure, with a little pressure loss, and capable of reducing the fluid force. SOLUTION: In the spool valve 10 for selectively changing a channel according to the displacement of a spool, an annular feed port 14, load ports 15 and 16, and return ports 17 and 18 are disposed in a sliding hole 12 of a body 11, and an annular center recess 3 opening in the feed port and land parts 2a and 2b are disposed in the spool 1 sliding in the sliding hole 12. The center recess of the spool is symmetrical in the axial direction, and the outer diameterϕd is gradually increased from the center 3c of the center recess toward land part ends 2c and 2d. The spool valve may be a two-position valve. The center recess is formed in the cone-shape, in the saddle-like shape of a drum, or in the shape of a bamboo shoot. In addition, a parallel part may be formed in the center recess. The quantity of gradual increase of the outer diameter is from 15°to 35°by one-side angleθto the center axis of the spool, and the outer diameterϕd of the center recess at the end of the spool land part is from 0.6 to 0.8 of the outer diameterϕD of the land.
