Process and device for severing the filling yarn following a weft insertion

In a weaving process a series of weft threads is drawn from a bobbin and inserted by air jet into a weaving compartment and cut after the blade reaches the end-stop. A timer regulates the cutting action. The time at which the first weft thread is separated is esp. registered and this data is used in conjunction with the resulting weave quality to determine the time at which subsequent weft threads are inserted and/or separated. The cutting action is determined by the time at which the weft thread mechanical tension increases sharply as measured pref. by a piezo-electric element between the pre-winder (2) and main jet (3). Also claimed is a commensurate assembly.
