PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for receiving a wireless packet data channel are provided to reduce the number of buffers and a processing time necessary for receiving data. CONSTITUTION: A demapping unit(100) demaps an input modulation symbol to coding symbols according to a corresponding modulation order. An HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Repeat ReQuest) module(200) receives the coding symbols from the demapping unit(100), and stores the received coding symbols in memory regions of a buffer memory corresponding to write addresses. The HARQ module(200) reads the coding symbols from the memory regions of the buffer memory corresponding to read addresses, and outputs the read coding symbols. A turbo decoder(170) decodes the read coding symbols according to a corresponding coding rate.
