<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the factors of errors in time setting and prevent a fixing damage, by detecting the values of voltages applied to a fixing device and correcting an abnormal detection time based upon the detected values. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus which has the fixing device using AC heaters 2 and 3; voltage detection means 4 and 5 which detect the values of voltages applied to the AC heaters 2 and 3; a means for measuring the time during which the power is supplied to the AC heaters 2 and 3; and a control means 8 which controls in such a manner that, if the fixing device does not reach a fixed temperature from a low temperature within a predetermined time, the means 8 judges that the fixing device is in an abnormal state, and then shuts off the supply of power, based upon the values of the voltages applied to the AC heaters 2 and 3, the setting time can be altered until the control means judges that the device is in an abnormal state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
