PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely give an alarm of a camera without adding special components. SOLUTION: When inadequate use conditions of the camera are detected, a CPU 22 sends an alarm informing signal and a mechanical shutter 31 is repeatedly opened and closed with successive opening/closing pulses from a timing generator 33 to inform the user of the alarm. When a 1st depressing operation of a release button 9 is done and a photograph tries to be taken with a barrier lens 3 closed (B), the mechanical shutter 31 is repeatedly opened and closed until the user releases the release button 9, thereby indicating the alarm. When a state wherein focus adjustment, exposure adjustment, and white balance correction of a photographic lens 4 are not proper for photography is detected (C) after the 1st depressing operation of the release button 9 is done to perform a photography preparing operation, the alarm is indicated until a 2nd depressing operation of the release button 9 is done after the photography preparing operation is completed.
