PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a V belt by preventing sliding of the V belt of a non-stage transmission and simultaneously preventing application of nipping pressure more than necessary on the V belt. SOLUTION: Target speed-changing speed is set in accordance with time to stop a vehicle in down-shift motion at the time of decelerating the vehicle (S106), and whether the sliding is caused on the V belt 34 or not is determined in accordance with belt nipping pressure lowering quantity PD<SB>dwn</SB>(n) (S108). In the case when this determination result is YES, whether sliding prevention of the V belt 34 is possible or not is determined (S112) in accordance with the belt nipping pressure lowering quantity PD<SB>dwn</SB>(n) and belt nipping pressure maximum compensating quantity PD<SB>up</SB>(n). In the case when this determination result is NO, the target speed changing speed is reset to a value at which the sliding prevention of the V belt 34 is possible.
