PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the possibility of inflow of a liquid phase coolant to a compressor. SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprises: an indoor heat-exchanger; an outdoor heat-exchanger connected to the indoor heat-exchanger through a liquid pipe; an indoor-side expansion valve and an outdoor-side expansion valve inserted to the middle of the liquid pipe; a compressor; a four-way valve for supplying the coolant discharged from the compressor to either one of the indoor heat-exchanger and the outdoor heat-exchanger and introducing the coolant leaving the other to the compressor; and a control part for controlling the four-way valve and the indoor-side expansion valve. The control part has the function of increasing the opening of the indoor-side expansion valve before switching the supplying designation of coolant from the indoor heat-exchanger to the outdoor heat-exchanger by the four-way valve.
