PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining such a temperature and a time in heat treatment as to simultaneously satisfy constraints for a material variation of a steel sheet and efficiency in the manufacture, and in addition, to provide a heat treatment device provided with an arithmetic unit for calculating them. SOLUTION: A heat treatment method for removing or reducing the residual stress of the steel sheet comprises calculating the optimal retention temperature or retention time which simultaneously satisfies requirements for the material variation of the steel sheet and the efficiency in the manufacture, in a retention temperature region of 250-550°C on the basis of strength of the steel sheet, a micro structure, and the allowed residual stress, and performing the heat treatment at the temperature for the time.
