Photographic film of polyethylene terephthalate coated

Film material is produced by (a) coating a film (I) consisting of biaxially oriented, thermally stabilised polyethylene terephthalate with a thin layer (II) of a vinylidene chloride polymer contng. at least 35 mol% vinylidene chloride, the coating operation being performed before (I) is completely biaxially oriented and thermally stabilised, (b) completing the biaxial orientation and thermal stabilisation of (I), and (c) coating hin layer (II) with a layer of a vinyl resin (III). - The film material is employed as a base for the manufacture of photographic and copying materials. The intermediate layer of vinyl resin acts as bonding layer of high strength for the light sensitive layer and the base of polyethylene terephthalate.
