PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for burning gas and device for the same in a coke oven, capable of efficiently removing fine dust (soot dust) in discharging combustion gas by a simple operation without losing carbon attached on the joint of a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: This method for controlling the combustion of the gas in the coke oven is provided by supplying an incombustible gas, preferably the discharging combustion gas 32 from a rich gas supplying passage 12b of an exhaust gas side to combustion chambers 21 adjacent to a carbonizing chamber 24 for charging coal, and measuring the pressure in the carbonizing chamber for charging the coal in addition to the pressure in the combustion chambers at its both sides by a pressure gauge 17 for adjusting the flow rate of the supply of the discharging combustion gas in accordance with the measured pressure values.
