PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an elevating device mounted on the spiral stairways in a desired direction by driving and rotating the stairways by power. SOLUTION: The spiral plate bands are mounted along ascending sides of the stairways at the outer ends of the spiral stairways. A support lower end assembled with the stairways is fixed to a driving disc to rotate the spiral stairways in a required direction with the support as a center. A guide column incorporated with a vertically movable supporting member is raised in the vicinities of the spiral stairways. The supporting member is combined with the elevating device for integration. Since an elevating floor of the device moves in the vertical direction, while keeping a horizontal attitude, an elevating roller is assembled on a lower part of the elevating device. By attaching the spiral plate bands mounted at the outer ends of the spiral stairways to the elevating roller, the elevating device is moved in the desired direction. The spiral stairways stop at fixed positions at a normal time and can be used as also stairs by springing up the elevating floor of the elevating device stopping on an upper floor.
