Disclosed is a drying apparatus drying paints which includes a casing having an opening at one end, an infrared lamp provided in the casing and adapted to radiate infrared rays toward a painted surface, an electric fan for blowing air in the casing toward the painted surface, a circulation path for causing at least a part of the air blown toward the painted surface to flow into the casing again, an atmospheric air inlet for introducing atmospheric air into the casing, and a flow rate adjusting mechanism for adjusting the flow rate of the air flowing into the casing again. The drying apparatus makes it possible to shorten the requisite time for drying the painted surface and to obtain a high-quality painted surface. <IMAGE>
