<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicolor liquid crystal display device having a low production cost. <P>SOLUTION: Two liquid crystal panels are vertically laminated, a first polarizer, a second polarizer and a third polarizer or a reflection plate are disposed respectively on the upper side, between two adjacent liquid crystal panels and on the lower side. A pair of transmission axis and absorbance axis which are orthogonally crossed are disposed on each polarizer. Therein, the transmission axes of the three polarizers transmit white light, the absorbance axes of the first and second polarizers absorb additive light, the absorbance axis of the third polarizer absorbs white light and, in accordance with the combinations that a voltage is applied to the two liquid crystal panels or not, different colors are displayed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
