TRANSFLECTIVE LIQUID CRYSTAL DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal device displaying a high- definition picture in both transmissive display region and reflective display region and electronic equipment using the same.

SOLUTION: In the transflective liquid crystal device 100 a thin color filter 241 for transmissive display is formed on the transmissive display region 100c and a thick color filter 242 for reflective display is formed on the reflective display region 100b on the lower layer side of a counter electrode 21. For the reason stated above, layer thickness d of a liquid crystal layer 50 in the reflective display region 100b is considerably thinner than layer thickness d of a liquid crystal layer 50 in the transmissive display region 100c. A chromatic range of the color filter 241 for transmissive display is made to be wider than that of the color filter 242 for reflective display by adjusting kinds and compounded quantities of color materials.
