<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operationality of a clutch by smoothing an axial directional movement of a drum in a multiply-layered clutch using the drum as a pressing means against a friction material. <P>SOLUTION: In a multiple clutch system of a transmission in which the clutches C-1, C-2, C-3 are arranged in an axial direction, there are provided the drums 1, 2, 3, friction materials 4, 5, 6 supported in cylindrical portions 11a, 11b, 11c of external peripheral sides of the drums, and a hydraulic servomechanism structured as pistons making the other inside drums fit into its own drums. The inside drums are fitted sequentially into outside drums to be arranged so that points of the inside drums press the friction material of each outside drum. Each of the inside drums 2, 3 and the outermost drum 1 are linked together via each linking member 7 which restrains relative rotation and allows axial displacement. Thereby, torque is transmitted via the linking member 7, so that the cylindrical portions 11a, 11b, 11c of the external peripheral sides of each drum are prevented from rubbing and sliding when the drums move relatively for engagement of the clutch, enabling smooth operationality of the clutch. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
