PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a high quality liquid crystal cell which allows solvent to little remain in a sealant. SOLUTION: Either of a pair of substrates 1, 2 is coated with the thermosetting resin material of which the viscosity is regulated by adding the solvent having a boiling temperature lower than the baking temperature of the thermosetting resin for forming the sealant 8 to the thermosetting resin and the leveling of the coated thermosetting resin material and the heating treatment at a temperature lower than the cure initiation temperature are performed. Thereafter, a pair of the substrates 1, 2 are laminated via the thermosetting resin material, the gap between the substrates is controlled and, then, the thermosetting resin is heated and cured at the baking temperature of the thermosetting resin.
