ZOOM LENS, AND CAMERA AND PORTABLE INFORMATION TERMINAL USING ZOOM LENS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zoom lens miniaturized further though it has high performance equal to or above the conventional one, and a camera and a portable information terminal using the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens has a 1st group 1 having a negative focal distance, a 2nd group 2 having a positive focal distance and a 3rd group 3 having a positive focal distance in order from an object side. In the case of performing variable power from a short focal end to a long focal end, the 2nd group 2 monotonously moves from an image side to the object side and the 1st group 1 moves to correct the fluctuation of an image surface position associated with the variable power. The 1st group 1 has at least two lenses L1 and L2 and an air lens formed between the two lenses, and both surfaces of the air lens are aspherical. The zoom lens satisfies conditional expressions no>1.50 and ni>1.60 where, noand niare the refractive index on a d-line of the lens arranged on the object side of the air lens and the refractive index on the d-line of the lens arranged on the image side of the air lens respectively.
