PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary compressor of a multifaceted type, in which compression efficiency is high, manufacturing cost is low, and structure is simple. SOLUTION: In the rotary compressor, gas refrigerant sucked in one rotary compression mechanism 20 is compressed by cooperation with the other rotary compression mechanism 30 smaller in displacement than the rotary compression mechanism 20, and then the gas refrigerant is further compressed in the rotary compression mechanism 30. The rotary compressor comprises: an intake port 24b communicating to a compression chamber C1 at a capacity increase stroke of the rotary compression mechanism 20; a communicating port 39 connecting the compression chamber C1 at the capacity increase stroke of the rotary compression mechanism 20 with a compression chamber C2 at a capacity increase stroke of the rotary compression mechanism 30; a discharge port 36a communicating to the compression chamber C2 at a capacity decrease stroke of the rotary compression mechanism 30; and a discharge valve 40 regulating discharge pressure from the discharge port 36a.
