Process for preparation of camptothecin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof

A process for the preparation of water-soluble camptothecin analogues of general formula (I), including methods for the preparation of intermediates thereof, and the compounds prepared by said process. Water soluble camptothecin analogues are prepared which may be used for inhibiting the growth of tumour cells sensitive to such analogues.
