PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dehydrating sludge by which excellent membrane separation is performed in a membrane separation apparatus and excellent dehydration performance is attained, and to obtain a sludge dehydrating agent. SOLUTION: In the sludge dehydrating method performed by adding the sludge dehydrating agent through a route L8 into the concentrated sludge obtained by concentrating fed sludge in the membrane separation apparatus 4, dehydrating the concentrated sludge using a dehydrator 6 and returning the separated liquid separated in the dehydration to the fed sludge in a biological treatment vessel 1, amphoteric dispersion type high molecular flocculant is used as the sludge dehydrating agent.
