PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball mill for preventing the discharge of balls to the outside of the ball mill, always equally holding a material to be ground and balls in a drum and capable of smoothly discharging a ground article (product) having a size similar to that of the balls to the outside of the ball mill. SOLUTION: This ball mill is equipped with a drum 1 having a horizontal cylindrical shape rotated around the axial line of the drum and closed at one end thereof by an end wall 1b provided with a supply port 2 and closed at the other end by an end wall 1c provided with a discharge port 3, a discharge trommel 12 allowed to communicate with the discharge port 3 of the drum and connected to the other end thereof, a plurality of ball lifters 16 vertically provided to the inner periphery of the leading end part of the discharge trommel 12 toward the center of scrape up balls, a ball return pipe 17 provided with a ball return means 19 arranged on the axial parts of the drum and the discharge trommel so as to be allowed to face to the supply port 2 at one end thereof and to face to the ball lifters 16 at the other end thereof to return balls to the supply port 2, and a conical ball guide 20 supported at the leading end part of each of the ball lifters 16 so as to support the tip end thereof toward the base end part of the discharge trommel 12 and returning the balls to the other end of the ball return pipe 17.
