PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method including steps of evaluating a saw blade before cutting, selecting a material to be cut based on the evaluation, setting cutting conditions, and cutting the material, and to provide a sawing machine. SOLUTION: The cutting method comprises steps of driving the saw blade 5 mounted on the sawing machine 1 under predetermined conditions, measuring the vibration state of the blade 5, comparing the measured vibration state with a predetermined saw blade rank table 35 to select the rank of the blade 5, and cutting a work W under cutting conditions corresponding to the rank of the blade 5. The sawing machine includes a vibration state measuring device 29 for driving the saw blade 5 and measuring a vibration state, a comparison means 41 for comparing the measurement value with the rank table 35, a controller 27 for searching the cutting conditions from a cutting condition table 37 corresponding to the selected rank of the blade by the comparison means 41 for controlling, a cut material table 39 for storing cuttable materials corresponding to the rank of the blade, and a display 33 for displaying the cuttable material according to the rank of the blade.
