PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the friction of guide surfaces of inserts 55 and 61 with the back of a band saw blade 33 while a bend cut amount of the blade 33 is reduced within an allowable range. SOLUTION: A band sawing machine is structured so that after a movable insert 61 is moved in the closing direction to a holding position for pinching the back of the band saw blade 33, the insert 61 is slightly moved in the opening direction to a clearance forming position where a small clearance C is formed between the blade 33 and the pair of inserts 55 and 61 by returning a hydraulic fluid on an insert hydraulic chamber 69 to the outside.
