PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dehydration accelerator for a calcium carbonate slurry which achieves a high dehydrating effect even when a smaller amount than the conventional amount is added and which does not affect the environment in consideration of growing environmental concerns in recent years. SOLUTION: This dehydration accelerator for the calcium carbonate slurry comprises a polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene alkyl ether of the formula R<SB>1</SB>O(CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>l</SB>(CH<SB>2</SB>CH(CH<SB>2</SB>)O)<SB>m</SB>H (where R<SB>1</SB>is a 6-24C alkyl and l/m is 5/95 to 95/5) and a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether of the formula R<SB>2</SB>O(CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>n</SB>H (where R<SB>2</SB>is an 8-11C alkyl and (n) is an integer of 2-10) as effective components.
