The invention relates to a medical device for treating body vessels, particularly blood vessels or other tubular structures in the body, especially the urethra, trachea, and esophagus. Said medical device comprises a first, proximal sealing unit (3) and a second, distal sealing unit (4). The first sealing unit (3) is offset from the second sealing unit (4) in the longitudinal direction of the body vessel (13) when being inserted therein so as to create a separate treatment space (10). A duct which is disposed between the first sealing unit (3) and the second sealing unit (4) connects the space upstream from the first sealing unit (3) to the space downstream from the second sealing unit (4) in order to allow fluid to flow in the body vessel while the device is in use. The wall of the duct can be configured in a flexible manner such that the surrounding conditions can be transferred to the treatment space. A vessel dressing can be created or holes in the vessel wall can be repaired by introducing natural cells or a mixture of natural cells and a natural and/or artificial polymer, particularly fibrin or collagen, into the treatment space. The inside of the duct of the inventive device can be provided with form elements or a valve-type arrangement such that the device can replace degenerated venous valves as an implant. The inventive device can also be provided with hollow form elements which are connected to the treatment space such that a matrix is formed for creating venous valves made of natural cells when natural cells or a mixture of a polymer and natural cells is/are introduced into the treatment space. |
