摘要 The invention relates to mechanical engineering and physical metallurgy and can be used for improving operating properties of the surfaces of articles made of metals and alloys thereof in the transport mechanical industry and other branches requiring a high wear resistance of the working surfaces of parts forming, for example friction couples with mating parts. The inventive method for the surface hardening of metals and alloys involves fast heating and cooling of a surface layer where the superficial heating of a hardened surface is carried out by friction of a treated surface with hard powder particles. Said particles are accelerated by a high-speed plasma or gas stream and are sent to the surface in a direction which practically excludes the adhesion of particles with respect to a treated material, i.e. at a sharp angle. Said method can be used for forming wear-resistant superficial layers, for example on parts made of aluminium alloys and operating in interfacial friction mode, in particular on the pistons and cylinder liners of internal combustion engines and on the working parts of compressor equipment, bearings, etc.
