The machine is for use in cleaning fish, particularly salmon and is autonomous, comprising a tray transporter with trays moved around in an endless track by an endless chain. The trays are individually articulatedly coupled to the chain by pick-up connections on the chain to provide suitable pivot movement in a plane at right-angles to the chain tractive direction. Connected to the chain drive is a fixed conducting rail, which follows the chain at a fixed distance from it. The rail is formed as a continuous curved track. Each tray at a distance from the chain connecting point is provided with a rail wheel which follows the rail during the tray movement around the transport track. The tray transporter runs horizontally around the manually operated cleaning line, during its movement, adopting different angle positions varying from horizontal to 45 degrees. The angle positions are determined by the manual cutting and cleaning work carried out along the cleaning line.
