PURPOSE: A method and a system for constructing a standard digital product catalog library database for electronic commerce are provided to efficiently input, output, search and maintain the data about products. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of determining an exclusive linear category in which categories corresponding to respective digital catalogs are arranged one-dimensionally(100), determining a specific standard expressing the sort of attributes of respective products and the attributes for respective exclusive linear categories and determining the attributes of the products corresponding to the standard(120), constructing a database of the exclusive linear categories(130), determining an inclusive tree type category by connecting the respective digital catalogs in a hierarchical tree structure(140), constructing a database about the inclusive tree type category(150), setting up specific functional relation between the exclusive linear category database and the inclusive tree type category database(160), and networking to include the products classified in the exclusive linear category in at least one inclusive tree type category.
