PROCESS FOR PREPARING SPHERICAL POROUS TITANIA POWDER

PURPOSE: Provided is a process for preparing spherical porous titania powder having an uniform size, a high surface area and a dense structure suitable to be used in a photo-catalyst, a white pigment and a cosmetic material. CONSTITUTION: The process for preparing spherical porous titania powder comprises the steps of: (1) dispersing or dissolving a mixture of fumed titania with titanium isopropoxide, or with an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of silicon, aluminum and zinc into a solvent to form titania compound solution having a concentration of 0.02-3M; (2) introducing the solution into a pulverizer to generate liquid droplets having a diameter of 0.1-100 micrometers; and (3) drying and heat treating the liquid droplets at the temperature of 600-1000 deg.C for 0.6 to 10 seconds.
