PURPOSE: An extension call service method in a private mobile communication system and an apparatus therefor are provided to display an extension call service icon on a mobile communication terminal for informing an extension call service area by the private mobile communication system. CONSTITUTION: The first to Nth mobile communication terminals(110-1¯110-N) transmit a location registration message to a private BSC(Base Station Controller)(100), and displays an extension call service icon by an extension call service icon display message received from the private BSC(100). The private BSC(100) transmits an extension call service indicating message to the first to Nth mobile communication terminals(110-1¯110-N). The private BSC(100) compares the location registration message from the first to Nth mobile communication terminals(110-1¯110-N) with subscriber information provided from a private HLR(Home Location Register)(130), and judges whether a user is an extension call service subscriber. The private BSC(100) transmits the extension call service icon display message to the first to Nth mobile communication terminals(110-1¯110-N).
