PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile station which has reduced power consumption for provision of information to a user in the case of providing the information to the user. SOLUTION: The mobile station shifts from an active state 240, wherein various information items are displayed, into a standby state 280 when an event such as user's operation and arrival of a call from a mobile packet communication network or a mobile telephone network does not take place for a prescribed period. No voltage is applied to a liquid crystal display device in the standby state 280 to thereby enable the user to see a display screen in black. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
