PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actively notify a host device of a control request from a USB device. SOLUTION: The USB device 10 has user interface means 1 and 2 for accepting a given external operation, and transmitting/receiving means 4 for transmitting an event generated by the given operation to the host device 20 as an error code of a USB command, receiving a request signal output from the host device 20 when the host device 20 detects the transmitted error code, and in response to the reception, transmitting information on the given operation to the host device 20. The host device 20 has transmitting/receiving means for receiving the error code transmitted from the USB device 10, upon detecting it, transmitting the request signal to the USB device 10, and receiving the information on the given operation transmitted from the USB device 10 having received the request signal, and recognizes the operation of the USB device 10 from the received information on the given operation.
