PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polyfunctional (meth)acrylate which readily cures by irradiation with actinic radiations or by heating to give a cured material excellent in hardness and heat resistance and having low water absorption, and a composition containing it. SOLUTION: The (meth)acrylate has two or more (meth)acryloyl groups and comprises an esterification product of (meth)acrylic acid with a polyol obtained by the thermal cationic polymerization of an oxetane compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>is H, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an arylalkyl group).
