PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method, which has not been attained by conventional methods, for obtaining an olefin compound having a fluorine- containing organic group, applicable to an optical field and the like and having high purity and no discoloration by simply and efficiently removing bonded iodine compounds and/or iodine compound species included in the olefin compound having the fluorine-containing organic group as impurities. SOLUTION: The method for purifying the olefin compound having the fluorine-containing organic group is to mix the olefin compound having the fluorine-containing organic group with copper or a copper halide and an organic phosphorus compound expressed by general formula: R<SP>4</SP><SB>3</SB>PX (wherein R<SP>4</SP>expresses one or more species selected from a group consisting of 1-10C alkyl groups, 1-10C alkoxy groups, aryl groups and aryloxy groups; X expresses a lone pair electron or oxygen) and treat the mixture.
