PURPOSE: An apparatus for adjusting a white balance and a method therefor are provided to minimize loss of quantization in a process of converting an analog video signal into a digital video signal. CONSTITUTION: A cut-off value control unit(210) controls a cut-off value of an analog video signal inputted in a first pattern for outputting the controlled cut-off value. An A/D(Analog to Digital) converter(220) converts the analog video signal into a digital video signal. A detector(250) detects the lowest bit of tri-stimulus values of the digital video signal respectively. A control unit(260) upwardly adjusts a level of a variable register of the cut-off value control unit from a level corresponding to a first initial cut-off value until the lowest bit becomes different from the first initial cut-off value. The control unit sets up the first cut-off value with the level of the variable register immediately before the lowest bit becomes different from the first initial cut-off value.
