PURPOSE: A method for recording a multimedia telephone call of a portable terminal is provided to selectively record contents of a video telephone call at a wanted point according to setup of a user, thereby improving the utilization of a restricted memory in a multimedia-based video phone. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether a recording mode is set up before a telephone call, during the telephone call, or after the telephone call. If the recording mode is set up before the telephone call and during the telephone call, telephone call data(video and audio) of the current telephone call is recorded. If the recording mode is set up after the telephone call, telephone call data stored just prior to the current telephone call are reproduced and recorded.
