PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new quaternary ammonium salt in which a carbon positioned in the center of a spiro ring becomes a chiral center. SOLUTION: The compound is represented by general formula (1) [wherein R1, R2, R3and R4are each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may be substituted, an alkenyl group or an acyl group which may be substituted (wherein R1and R2and/or R3and R4may form a cyclic structure together with a nitrogen atom to which they are bonded); R5, R6, R7and R8are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a nitro group, an alkyl group which may be substituted, an alkenyl group which may be substituted, an acyl group, an aryl group which may be substituted or a heterocyclic group which may be substituted; X1and X2are each a halogen atom, an alkylsulfonyl group which may be substituted, an arylsulfonyl group which may be substituted, a BF4group or a BF6group].
