METHOD FOR PRODUCING COATED PAPER FOR PRINTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated paper for printing produced in shortened production step by using a monodisperse pigment slurry of precipitated calcium carbonate having low viscosity and high concentration and keeping the original form of the carbonate or a codispersed pigment slurry of precipitated calcium carbonate and kaolin having high concentration. SOLUTION: The coated paper for printing is produced by coating one or both faces of a base paper composed mainly of wood pulp with a coating liquid composed mainly of a pigment slurry and an adhesive. The slurry is a monodisperse pigment slurry produced by concentrating a precipitated calcium carbonate slurry obtained by carbonization reaction to a solid concentration of 55-75 wt.%, adding a dispersing agent and subjecting the mixture to dispersion and crushing treatment with an agitator having a screen and a rotor. The invention further provides a method for producing the coated payer for printing by coating one or both faces of a base paper with the coating liquid. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
