<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To build up a video conference system with high user-convenience by controlling transmission of information mainly considering the voice. <P>SOLUTION: An analog/digital converter 31 converts voice picked up by a microphone into a digital signal and a voice control section 45 applies envelope follower processing to the digital signal. Then the magnitude correlation is discriminated between an envelope signal and a threshold value and a significant part and a noise part in a voice signal are discriminated. A voice encoder 35 applies compression processing to the voice signal discriminated to be the significant part and the processed signal is transmitted to other terminal via a network. While the voice encoder 35 applies compression processing to the significant part, a video signal is transmitted to the other terminal and while receiving the noise part, the system transmits the voice signal stored in a buffer to the other terminal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
