PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the strength of a stator blade of a fluid type torque converter and the strength of a stator wheel casting mold. SOLUTION: The torque converter comprises a pump impeller, a turbine runner, and a stator wheel with a blade 31 inside a torus formed by them, and a flat plane Ff continued to a pressure side blade surface Fp is formed at least on the inner ring side of a tail part 31b of a blade of the stator wheel. Accordingly, the tail part of the blade is thick, and therefore, the blade thickness is relatively large compared to the chord length and the strength of the blade is improved. Further, by adjusting a divided surface of the die to the flat plane of the tail part of the blade when the stator wheel is manufactured by casting, the width of a projection necessary for dividing the mold on the blade head part 31a side is taken as large as the length equal to the gap between blades especially on the inner ring side where the gap between blades is small, so that the strength of the casting mold is improved.
