PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character inputting device capable of attaching a desig nated character string one character by one character at a free position and at a free angle with a free pattern in a small number of procedures, and being applied even to equipment whose input device is limited. SOLUTION: A character string to be attached is inputted from an input device 11, and stored in a buffer 12, and when attachment processing is executed, a user is made to designate the attachment processing one character by one character, and characters are attached to an image on a display screen at a free position and at a free angle by a character modification designating means 15. At that time, the user is made to select an attachment pattern to attach the respective characters of the character string by every character, or to attach the character string in a batch according to prepared layout pattern (L type, V type, U type, and dogleg type or the like).
